Eagle Release - The Irish Eye

Our local Raptor Center is an animal hospital and rehabilitation center that specializes in care for injured birds, primarily Bald Eagles. Injured bird are brought to the center from all over Alaska. The staff cares for these birds, nursing their wounds and providing medical treatment. The goal of the center is to release the injured birds back into the wild after they can care for themselves. If an animal's injuries are too extensive it will become a resident bird, used for research and education.

Today, after months of rehabilitation, seven eagles were released into the wild. Some were local birds, a few from Juneau and one from Prince of Wales Island. All are now rejoined with the wild birds of the region.
